description

One of the first personal computer shows was held in Atlantic City in 1976.  The organizers decided to move it to Philadelphia in 1978 and asked me if I had any ideas for an event we could do since I was the president of the local computer society.  I had met some folks who were interested in electronic music and the use of computers so I said why don’t we have a computer music concert.  They had never heard of this but gave us the green light.  With the help of some friends at Creative Computing magazine and others, we found fifteen performers from across the country who flew in for the event.  We rented a medium size event room at a local hotel and had a friend announce on the radio there was going to be a computer music concert.  We had no idea who or how many would show up.  When we opened the doors (about a half hour late) there was a line through the hotel and out the entrance.  We recorded the concert and Creative Computing made an LP record which they sold for years.

You can read more about the concert and listen to the music here.
